This past week the Femme Drive crew and I attended the Made in America Festival in Philly, and it was blast. It was really exciting to hang with the girls/our GM family, get an up close and personal look at the 2023 Hummer EV Supertruck and to also see a few of my favorite performers for the first time like Ryan Castro, Bad Bunny and Burna Boy. Trust me when I say that this entire experience was a whole vibe.
Not only was this trip incredibly fun, but there were a lot of firsts along the way, such as:
- The entire Femme Drive team being together since we put this thing in motion.
- Visiting Philly/eating a Philly Cheese Steak.
- Attending the Made in America Festival.
- The Bad Bunny experience.
- Checking out the GMC Hummer Supertruck.
- Drinking Dusse, which is delicious I must add.
Introducing the 2023 GMC Hummer EV Supertruck
The all-electric GMC Hummer Supertruck looks completely awesome and extremely insane on paper. After checking out the specs, which included: 0-60 mph in 3 seconds, a 329-mile range, 1,000 horsepower, 11,500 pound-feet of torque, four-wheel steering, 35-inch tires, and the list goes on, my next thoughts were this EV is a beast, and would love to experience it on different terrains.
Additionally, the vehicle’s modern and comfortable cabin is packed with tons of the latest technology. Making it versatile enough for extreme off-roading, and also day-to-day use, depending on your lifestyle. Yep! It is definitely a Supertruck without precedent and limitations.

Sea of Tranquility Speakers
I am all about locating hidden Easter Eggs throughout really cool vehicles, so I couldn’t wait to ask the designer at the Made in America Festival to point out a few.
The one that intrigued me the most was the moon inspired Easter Egg etched into the grille of the Bose speakers, called the Sea of Tranquility.
The Sea of Tranquility is where the Apollo 11 Lunar Module landed on the moon in 1969, and also where Neil Armstrong made history for being the first person to step on the moon. And given the pickup’s futuristic themed design it isn’t surprising that the brand chose to commemorate this historic event in one of their hidden designs.
Ultium System
At the heart of the Hummer EV is a new electric powertrain called the Ultium system. The 24-module Ultium battery pack and three-motor Ultium Drive system will provide this all-electric truck best-in-class power output. Additionally, the charging system is also designed to support legacy 400-volt charging infrastructure, without the need for a converter box or other accessories, allowing HUMMER EV to use a variety of charging stations.
Fun Fact: On some Ultium vehicles, such as the Hummer, the top and bottom layers can be temporarily switched from a parallel to a series connection, doubling the voltage to 800. This lets it take full advantage of the highest-output 800-volt Electrify America fast-charging stations.
“As the first of GM’s next-gen EVs, the HUMMER EV will fundamentally alter conventional off-road and truck paradigms,” said Ken Morris, GM vice president, Autonomous and Electric Vehicle Programs. “It will also debut new technology, including our all-new Ultium batteries, Ultium Drive units and the industry’s first wireless battery management system.”

Although I haven’t had the opportunity to drive the all-electric pickup, I am definitely both intrigued and excited to one day put this vehicle to the test.
