The influencer universe is constantly expanding. It used to be limited to celebrities – performers, actresses and supermodels, but with the inclusion of people who are actually called beauty influencers, this universe, like the real one, seems to be expanding every day. And, thanks to the wonders of the Digital Age, we now don’t have to rely on gossip or run to the newsstands to grab copies of our go-to fashion and beauty magazines. With a few clicks of a button, we can now snag every beauty secret of every influencer in the blogosphere, Instagram and even online editions of those glossy magazines. The amount of information is insane, and sometimes it’s difficult to remember some of the best secrets, so we’ve done our due diligence to bring you only the best and easiest hacks and routines, so you too can have that influencer-approved ‘I woke up like this’, full glam or casual flawless look.
Freshen the face like a French girl

Every French girl – who we all know as the girl who has a nonchalant approach to life, fashion and beauty – still has a few tricks up her sleeve. French actress and model Clémence Poésy claims that her inability to understand the frenzy around concealer to cover up the darkness in the under eye area comes as a lesson from her mother. Aside from there being something romantic and deeply human about dark circles, instead of trying to cover them, French girls are more about diligent skin care, and their secret – the popular and multi-purpose coconut oil that tends to the delicate skin around the eyes gently and gives the eyes that coveted healthy shine and just a hint of sparkle.
Smile like an Aussie girl
When it comes to Aussie ladies, oral hygiene is one of the aspects of their health they pay the most attention to; they do their best to have a perfect white smile. Australians have also developed a good system for online appointments. All they have to do is to find a dentist in Bondi Junction, for example, and book an appointment.
A little goes a long way
We all know that beauty influencers usually show their flawless faces which are full of makeup, and that’s totally fine. However, it’s the tiny secrets that make all the difference. We can watch makeup tutorials and copy outrageous eye art, but what we’re looking for are the little things. For instance, every makeup influencer uses pearlescent eyeshadow to make their eyes more awake and rested. Another trick for brighter and even bigger eyes is a light beige eye pencil placed in the lower lash line – this one is tried, tested and absolute gold.
All that glow

Even though she goes to great lengths to achieve that no-makeup makeup look, the glow queen – Desi Perkins has an incredibly easy solution for achieving that lit-from-within glow even when you don’t have any time to do your makeup. Among many ‘glow’ products she uses, two are her absolute favorite and she has said on numerous occasions that she always has at least one backup. The first product is MAC’s Strobe Cream, which is actually a great moisturizer, but can be applied on the high points of the face, or as a cream to give you that luminous look, and to seal the glowy deal, now we even have MAC’s Iconic Fix+ in the shimmer version, so bye-bye makeup, with a little luminous cream and a little spritz, you can also walk out the door with the real no-makeup look and still look like a darn goddess.
Never underestimate this little product
Blush has been one of the most underrated products in the past few years, ever since contouring and highlighting stepped onto the stage. However, according to genius Pat McGrath, even if you’re not wearing foundation, a little blush in your most complimentary hue will give you that healthy flush and radiance with minimum effort. In her words “Blush! It’s the fastest way to create the illusion of those high cheekbones we all lust after.”
The ‘woke up like this’ myth
Photo by Roberto Delgado Webb on Unsplash
We have seen countless celebs post their no-makeup morning selfies, and more often than not, we don’t believe them to be authentic. If you’ve ever seen the movie Bridesmaids (and you should, it’s hilarious), you will remember the scene where Kristen Wiig goes to the bathroom to apply a little something before the man wakes up so she can pretend she actually wakes up looking that good. Perhaps an Instagram filter plays a small part in all of those perfect morning selfies, but the truth is, the faces of celebs are their money makers so, there is a slight chance that some of them are just really diligent when it comes to using incredible anti ageing skin care products which allow their skin to reboot during the night and actually wake up adorably flawless. A carefully curated skin care regimen goes a long way, so instead of hiding behind makeup, invest in truly amazing skin care, have regular facials, and then makeup will be something to play with, not something to hide behind.
Keep those lashes up
A little secret we snagged from actress Isla Fisher is actually a genius trick. If you want those lashes to stay up and curled, warm up your eyelash curler with a blow-dryer for a second or two and then curl away. She swears by this trick, so why not give it a try?
Make it sit

Have you ever had this pesky issue – you apply foundation, and it just refuses to sink in; instead, it just sits on top, completely transferable while somehow managing to latch onto those dry patches? Beauty vlogger Stephanie Lange has an incredible video that will show you all the dos and don’ts when doing a full face of makeup. The video contains everything from skin prep, ways to apply foundation, avoid cakey-ness – it’s absolute gold. After this, you will never have cakey foundation issues ever again.
