Disclosure: Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 was provided to me at the A Girls Guide to Cars Conference for editorial consideration. All opinions are 100% my own

I love a luxury car. Ya’ll know that about me. And I love sassy style. Put them together and you have my heart.

That’s why I can’t stop thinking about the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 that I got to drive at A Girls Guide to Cars conference in Atlanta.

You can see by the coupe shape and SUV size that this car is designed to turn heads and conquer mountains (and, make cruising for a parking space less painful). Hop inside and you’re in a cloud of leather and sophisticated technology.

Just Say “Hey Mercedes,” And Your Wish is Her Command

And then, it gets better. You can command the GLC to take care of your needs while you drive. All you have to do is say, “Hey, Mercedes,” and the car will take care of whatever you need. THAT is sassy!

“How can I help you?” Mercedes replies when you ask. “Change the radio station…” is just the start. She can call your mom, look up an address, set the temperature in the car, turn on your heated or cooled seats. She can even tell you a joke. My friend Connie found out:

The most popular model in the Mercedes-Benz family, this crossover coupe has just been updated with this technology, the brand’s top of the line system that you’ll find in its pricier models.

It has more function, more tech and as Mercedes-Benz is known to do, it has an improved drive experience. During my test drive I discovered some of the fun and functional features new to the 2020 model, which is priced from starts $44,500 for the all wheel drive 4Matic ($42,500 if you don’t need AWD).

Seriously! Mercedes-Benz offers semi-autonomous driving features on the GLC300 (for an extra $2,700) including active lane change assist which, when driving on the highway, will safely change lanes for you! Really! It also has adaptive cruise control with stop and go, congestion emergency braking, lane keep assist and active blind spot monitoring. I know you’re thinking how does the Mercedes-Benz change lanes for you? Connie tried that out, too; this is how it’s done:

MBUX: The Ultimate User Experience

MBUX is the Mercedes-Benz infotainment and media system and it’s been upgraded to do some amazing things. For instance, you can get a bit of augmented reality in with your navigation: the system can overlay a live view video of the road ahead with navigation directions so you can see exactly where you’re supposed to turn, which lane to take on the highway and if there are cars creeping up on you as you prepare to turn.  It’s part of a $1,250 package that includes:

  • MB Navigation
  • MBUX augmented video for navigation
  • Online navigation map updates for 3 years
  • 3 years of Live Traffic services by TomTom
  • Speed Limit assist

The interior of the GLC 300 is more like an inner sanctum; the leather seats are plush and cushy, the leather is supple and smells wonderful. You upgrade this with a panoramic sunroof ($1500) and the AMG sport package ($1,600) which includes:

  • AMG body styling
  • 19-inch AMG twin 5-spoke wheels
  • Sport brake system
  • Sport interior appointments
  • Sport front seats
  • Sport steering wheel
  • Brushed aluminum pedals

Redesigned for 2020 and More Gorgeous than Ever

The lines of this car have been updated on the outside and inside the MBUX system functions on a larger touch screen that spans the dashboard from the driver’s side to the passenger’s. Under the hood  it has a 4 cylinder turbo engine with 255 horsepower (13 more horsepower than the last model) and 273 torque, giving it a lot of oomph.

It’s Easy to See Why It’s So Popular

This a beautifully designed luxury car so it’s easy to see why it’s a best seller for Mercedes Benz. It drives like a dream and the interior, the tech, and the safety features are top notch and setting new  standards in the industry. I can’t imagine anything else I’d ever need in a car, but If I do, I’ll only have to say ‘Hey, Mercedes…”
