Happy Sassy Sunday Everyone!!!! 🙂
A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending the product launch for the 2015 All-New Ford Edge in Scottsdale, AZ. This was my first-time visiting Arizona, so I really didn’t know what to expect. Friends and family provided some insight, and of course I did the Google thing but until I actually experienced it for myself there was a lot of speculation. A few days before departing I was really excited and very nervous! This would not only be my first-time visiting AZ; it was also my first time covering an event out of state. After I got tired of late-night visits from Mr. Anxiety, I decided to Put My Big Girl Panties On and rolled with it! Lol!
When I arrived at the airport, there was a car waiting, and we headed to the beautiful W Scottsdale. After checking in and finding out that media would be on their own until dinner I decided to explore both the hotel and the city.
The W is very stylish and an excellent choice to host events. The rooms are super cozy, the pool and gym are exceptional, and the food and staff are amazing. It is located in the heart of downtown Scottsdale so just about everything is in walking distance. This location is idea for someone such as me because when I am in different parts of the world I make it a point to wander.
While making my rounds I came across a large open area in the hotel that focused solely on the Edge. Each wall was painted with extremely enlarged images of the vehicle, including descriptions of the interior/exterior. Later that evening, in the same space, the program team responsible for the crossovers development held a background session followed by Q&A. During that time everyone had the chance to ask the SME’s (Subject Matter Experts) tons of questions and to mingle/enjoy each other’s company.

As mentioned above, before leaving for my trip I received several warnings that the weather in AZ is stifling! Although I kept this in mind it wasn’t going to stop me from hitting the streets of Scottsdale, and to my surprise it was nothing like I expected.
I am sure the weather can be very unpleasant during certain times of the year, but the event was held during winter, so my time spent was anything but stifling. The sun was out; and shining brightly I must add, but mid 80’s with no humidity makes for a very comfortable and pleasant day. As you guys know, your girl can find a mall just about anywhere and that’s exactly what happened. Once I found out that the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall is only about 5 to 10 minutes walking distance from the hotel I started on my journey. I was pleasantly surprised that all of the stores I love are located in this mall. I people watched and hung out a few hours then headed back to get ready for the evening events.
The next morning, I met up with my driving buddies and took part in the perpendicular and parallel park assist functions exercise. Once completed, we headed to the beautiful countryside of Phoenix to test drive the spectacular crossover. Our group consisted of three, so we all took turns driving and navigating. I enjoyed the entire 4 hour experience! The vehicle is gorgeous, it rides and drives exceptional, the scenery is intoxidating and the company was great! I don’t think it could have gotten any better!
Along the way we stopped at a few different points to take pictures and just enjoy the view. The two stops that stood out to me most were “Jakes Corner Bar” and “Inspiration Point & Theodore Roosevelt Dam“. Jakes Corner Bar/Store reminds me something right off “American Pickers”. It is located in a very rural area and looks like a place where Mike and Franky would love to go and possibly do some pickin’. 🙂 My all time favorite stop was Inspiration Point & TR Dam. If you have never had the opportunity to see this place up close and personal, I suggest you start packing your bags. The only word that comes to mind when describing the beauty that radiates from it is picturesque! #Nowordstodescribe! #Godswork! I am looking forward to the day I return to this gorgeous place! #Wow!!!!!

After we made our way back to the hotel, we said our goodbyes and headed to the airport. My time spent in AZ was great, and I just want to give a special shout out to Ford and to the W Scottsdale for making this a very memorable and wonderful experience!!!!!
