Hey guys,

Not sure if you are aware, but NASCAR recently announced the ban on Confederate flags from all races, events and properties.

Can I get an AMEN to THAT?!?!?

When I saw this bit of information pop up on my FaceBook feed I had mixed emotions! My initial thought was, “Wait WHAT???” Then, “Yeah right! Has to be FAKE News!” Then came the “Well, they have actively been making changes for the last few years.”

After doing a little more research and found out that, IT IS 100% TRUE! Which totally fills my heart with joy, because I love NASCAR, and this is a HUGEE victory for black and brown people who love this sport!

Nascar: Black Lives Matter

Statement from NASCAR

“The presence of the Confederate flag at NASCAR events runs contrary to our commitment to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all fans, our competitors and our industry,”

“Bringing people together around a love for racing and the community that it creates is what makes our fans and sport special. The display of the Confederate flag will be prohibited from all NASCAR events and properties.”

Bubba Wallace

NASCAR driver, Darrell “Bubba” Wallace Jr. (No 43), the only black driver at NASCAR’s top level, recently called for this change, and although the company has not addressed how it will enforce the policy the change is in full affect.

So much so that Wallace’s car (No 43), featured the Black Lives Matter, logos and messages on it when he raced in the Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500 NASCAR Cup Series race, this past Wednesday at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia.

Can I get another AMEN!

Racial injustice and disproportionate police brutality against minorities has affected EVERYONE, athletes included! So, such an act gives me goosebumps! When you live in my skin, you just don’t know who your friends are, who fears or hates you. But 2020 has shown me that there are so many people, good people out there doing good things. And though I know what it’s like to be a black American woman in the auto industry, I feel less afraid because of those good people. And proud to be part of this hopeful history where people of all colors are standing up and fighting to abolish racism.

Thank you NASCAR, for standing up. Thank you Mr. Wallace for this grand gesture that is sure to get in the history books one day.

Note: Wallace announced at the end of the interview with Richard Petty Motorsports, that his foundation was donating $10,000 to Black Lives Matter Foundation.
