I have always been a fan of the Nissan Armada. A friend of mine owned one a few years back and I thought it was a pretty cool SUV. It totally reminded me of the Infiniti QX80 without the luxury price tag, and although a bit rugged, it still has a smooth and luxe vibe.
Recently, I had the pleasure of testing out the 2021 Platinum AWD model. I was impressed by its fresh new face, stylish updates and slightly more aggressive and powerful engine. The additional standard driver assists, larger touchscreen infotainment system, and slightly higher max tow ratings will definitely keep and hold the attention of interested consumers.
Details of 2021 updates:
- Larger and much appreciated 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay
- Gauge cluster comes with a new 7.0-inch color display. (Gauge cluster = Includes the speedometer, fuel gauge, tachometer and odometer; it is located on the driver’s side on the dashboard, in front of the steering wheel.)
- Newly standard active safety features: includes adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, etc. etc.
- V-8’s horsepower went from 390 to 400 (with Premium fuel); torque rises from 394 to 413 lb-ft.
You may have noticed that there is nothing about fuel economy of this list. Well, unfortunately that still remains below an average level. While driving I did notice that the fuel gauge inched toward “E” quite fast.
