As far back as I can remember Fiat has been a household name. My stepmom’s first car was a hip, yellow 1979 Fiat Brava. It came equipped with tan, velour interior, a Blaupunkt stereo and moonroof; total price $6,000.00. You might be wondering how I know the specifics about a car my mom owned almost 40 years ago. I know, because she loved that car! She drove it until the wheels fell off, and she still didn’t want to let it go! This supports what she has repeatedly said all these years and what I have been thinking/saying since taking part in the SUPER COOL 2016 Fiat 500X Media Drive in Beverly Hills, CA. This Italian beauty has all the sassiness and personality any fashionista could ever want!
When I received the invite to attend the event, I initially thought I was being punked! After finding out it was totally legit my excitement level went through the roof! I couldn’t wait to get behind the wheel of the vehicle to experience it firsthand. On the day of the scheduled drive, all participants headed to 3Labs Warehouse in Culver City, CA for a brief course in Fiat 101. Here we learned several great facts (past and present) about Fiat as a whole and specifically about the crossover. The 500X Pop (Low-end model) starts off at $20,000.00 and the Trekking Plus (high-end model) starts at $27,100.00. I am amazed that after 40 years and several impressive upgrades the prices are still quite low in comparison to the amount of car you get. In addition to getting a lot of cars for little money, customers have the option of taking advantage of the customizable Collections by choosing the features that best fit their personality. It also features two engine options, is available in five trim models, 12 exterior colors, is equipped with Hill-Start, Park Assist, and much, much more.

Once the learning session was over, we paired up, picked the vehicle of choice, turned up the SiriusXM and headed to the drive route. When we hit the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) my insides started screaming. The scenery is out of this world, and as we made our way deeper and deeper into the dreamy Santa Monica Mountains it became almost surreal.

I have to admit; initially, it was a bit scary and rather intimidating driving through the winding roads. However, thanks to this vehicle’s exceptional handling and three drive options, we were able to relax and totally enjoy the experience. The three options include Auto, Sport, and Traction + modes, sport being the best when driving through winding roads. After switching the dial, both my partner and I felt an immediate change in steering. I remember the awesome rush of adrenaline that surged through me while hitting those bends on “Old Topanga Canyon Road”! At each turn my inner vehicle-handling diva showed her proud head to give me the thumbs up and pat me on the back! When the winding roads eased up, I think I saw her pout a bit. 🙂

The New 2016 500X is a dream! I would absolutely recommend this cute and sassy machine to anyone! It is not only full of personality and pizzazz, but it is very strong and powerful with the ability to handle rough terrain and winding roads with ease! Now I understand why my stepmom has such fond memories of her hip yet infamous Fiat Brava and also why she considers it a Fashionista’s Dream.
